These include selectable microphone types and positions to afford you greater control on your direct sound. Boss also provides their Tone Studio software which allows you to control every aspect of the amp and really start tweaking the tone. Here you can get crazy in detail with the effects. It includes easy to work with sliders to set every parameter. You can assign effects to the colors from here,

After that comes the equalization section which has the typical ‘bass’, ‘middle, and ‘treble’ knobs that you would expect. The eq has a great range, and is very responsive. The Katana 50 MKII can store 4 of your favourite patches directly to the amp, with 15 effects per patch. There is a rear-panel connection, allowing you to control the amp channels with a footswitch or manipulate effects with an expression pedal. The Katana 50 is compatible with the Boss FS-6 ( Katana 100MKII and above use the GA-FC) and all Katana models are compatible with all Boss Expression Pedals. Five unique amp characters (Clean, Crunch, Lead, Brown, and Acoustic) and five variations for each. The Katana 50 MkII features USB and phones/recording outputs with mic’d cabinet emulation. Thisletsyou send mix-ready amp tones to a computer's DAW for direct recording, headphones for silent practice,or even a front-of-house PA system for live performance. The BOSS Katana Amp Range: Choose Your WeaponContour Settings -Shape your core tone with three different Contour settings, each with four customizable frequency curves to choose from. The Katana also sounds excellent at bedroom levels due to the ability to switch the wattage, so it has the added bonus of being great for home use– though, as we found out when we did our review of the best soundproof curtains, you can still annoy the neighbors with this amp. Boss are most renowned for their guitar pedals, and the company has crammed a bunch of its high-quality effects into its Katana amplifiers. Taking it to the next level with the MkII series, you can now use five different effects simultaneously rather than just three -giving you the power of a massive pedalboard inside your amp! The ‘crunch’ channel is a little thinner sounding than the clean, and it’s the least good sounding channel in my opinion. This doesn’t mean it’s bad, but it’s not as impressive as the rest of the channels.

Katana amps continue to grow and mirror players' needs. If you're investigating the Katana-50 MkII or Katana-100 MkII, here’s a full guide. Read more… Exploring the Hidden Powers of the Katana Guitar Amp If an item can not be repaired, a similar alternative product or cash discount (as defined in this policy) will be offered Furthering the live possibilities of the Katana EX is the new emulated line out, which is in addition to the phones/recording out. This makes the new Katana a very valuable stage companion, transforming it from a modest practice amp to a combo that is capable of taking up residence in the largest venues. The ’acoustic’ channel is meant for acoustic guitar, and it’s kind of a blend between the clean channel and the direct sound of the guitar. Some people prefer using this channel for electric guitar with pedals, others say it kills the tone. It’s really really loud. Personally, I’ve been able to easily get over a loud drummer and bass player with a 4×15 cab at not even half the total volume. The next section has the presets, presence, master volume, cab resonance and power controls. The Katana 50 can save four presets plus a panel setting. All the other models include eight presets. The presets are divided over two banks. Mic’d cabinet emulation on the USB and phones/recording outputs, with customizable tone via three Air Feel settings And we're still not done. In this second incarnation of the Katana, Boss have added two variants for each amp character. So players now have 10 amp tones to experiment with, unearthing even more sonic possibilities for your sound. And, with 4 integrated memory slots, you can save your sculpted tones and access them whenever you need to with the touch of a button. It's this extensive versatility that makes the Katana MKII Boss's most functional amp to date, and why players now have the power to truly explore their creativity to its fullest. Let your creativity flourish Standby means the Katana amp is powered on, though the onboard speaker is disabled. This is the perfect setting for late-night recording/ practice sessions. 0.5w is perfect for when you are playing at low volume and still require the tone of a pushed guitar amp. 25w is ideal for quiet rehearsals and jamming with other musicians, whereas 50w will enable you to compete with a drummer and use it in live situations. Finally, the Katana outputs audio over USB, so it makes for a great amp for home recording, and sounds better than many of the most popular amp sims on the market.

The high-gain sounds are a little bit harder to tame though. For classic low-gain overdrive, I recommend not using the booster as it compresses and tightens the tone quite strong. The EQ is less important here. The BOSS Katana-50 MkII EX is a stage-ready combo amplifier that expands upon the best-selling Katana-50 MkII model, offering extra performance versatility in the same compact footprint. This EX version of the BOSS Katana-50 MkII amp is geared towards gigging guitarists who want the additional features offered by the larger Katana-100 MkII combo with the portability of the Katana-50 MkII. The Ultimate Gigging Companion However, the Gear4music extended warranty scheme provides an enhanced service, and is designed to offer a higher level of protection than many 'free' warranties offered by some retailers and manufacturers. After that come the effects. There’s two buttons: ‘booster’ (overdrive/distortion) and ‘mod’ (modulation effects like chorus and flanger). The second set of buttons has an ‘FX’ and ‘delay’ section. These do exactly what they describe. The FX are effects, same with the mod knob. However, this includes more effects, like compressors and a second EQ section. The Boss Katana 50 MKII has a good amount of low end too, so it’s sometimes easy to forget that you’re only playing through a 1x12” combo amp. The amp feels and responds really well too - is it exactly the same as playing through a tube amp? Probably not, but it isn’t far off, plus you’ve got a lot of extra versatility here. Partner the Katana 50 MKII with an optional FS-6 Footswitch to switch Channels and control the Effects Selection. You can also keep the dust off with the Boss BAC-KTN50 Amp Cover .
